Saab has secured a contract from the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) to provide overhaul and modification services for the Swedish Navy’s two Stockholm-class corvettes.
Under the deal, the company will offer overhaul and modification services to the two corvettes, HMS Stockholm and HMS Malmö.

The company will carry out the annual overhaul and modification programme for the corvettes to classify them as warships for maritime surveillance.
Overhaul and modification work on the corvettes will be carried out at the Karlskrona shipyard.
Both the ships were constructed at the Karlskrona shipyard in the early 1980s, and moved into operational service in 1985.
The vessels passed through their midlife upgrade in 2002.

This month, FMV received one of the Swedish Navy’s upgraded Gotland-class submarines from Saab.
The general overhaul and upgrade work on the submarine was carried out by Saab Kockums as part of a contract awarded to the company on 29 September 2014.
The enhancements provided include new sensors and navigation systems. The company has also implemented the required assessments to assure the submarine’s operational availability.
