Under the $112.3m contract, Raytheon will design and develop radar arrays for far-field testing to refine the system concept for the engineering and manufacturing development phase of the programme.
AMDR will consist of an S-band radar, X-band radar and radar suite controller and will provide unprecedented capabilities for the Navy’s Arleigh Burke Class destroyers.
Raytheon has partnered with GD Advanced Information Systems and shipbuilder Gibbs & Cox for the concept development of the radar solution.
Work will be carried out at the various facilities across Massachusetts and Rhode Island, US, and at the Integrated Air Defense Center in Massachusetts.
