The US Navy has received a tender from Raytheon for the KillerBee unmanned aircraft system (UAS) as part of the navy’s small tactical unmanned aircraft systems and tier II proposal.

The UAS has a blended-wing aircraft body design, which incorporates unique elements to enable growth for future payloads and additional mission capabilites.

The KillerBee also has both land or sea launch, recovery and ground control capabilities.

Raytheon Missiles System’s advance missiles and unmanned systems vice president Bob Francois said that the UAS was an integrated solution to the US Navy’s need for persistent intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance in the littoral environment.

KillerBee is capable of conducting persistent reconnaissance missions, surveillance and target acquisition and is ideally suited for a expeditionary environment
