Duqm Naval Dockyard (DND) has completed the repair, overhaul and dry docking of the USNS Choctaw County Spearhead-class expeditionary fast transport (EFT) vessel in No2 Dry dock, Oman.
The company performed work under a contract with the US Military Sealift Command (MSC). For DND, it represents completion of the first drydocking project.
The dockyard hopes to build on the successful execution of the project and secure future work packages with the US Navy.
DND was formed in June 2017 as a joint venture (JV) between Babcock International and the Oman Dry Dock Company (ODC).
The overhaul and repair involved complex work on hull systems, internal systems and the ship’s stern ramp.
In addition, the dockyard performed work to enable the swift loading and disembarkation of vehicles, stores and personnel in challenging conditions.
