India clears purchase of additional P-8I maritime aircraft for navy
India’s Government cleared a potential procurement of Boeing-built P-8I maritime surveillance aircraft as part of a wider spending plan to boost the country’s defence capabilities.
The Indian Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) decision-making body on matters related to procurement, the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), has approved the purchase of defence equipment valued as much as Rs228bn ($3.18bn).

The approval sets the stage for the Indian Navy to acquire additional P-8I aircraft that can be used for anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.
RAN’s landing helicopter docks achieve final operational capability
The Australian Department of Defence announced that the Royal Australian Navy’s landing helicopter docks reached final operational capability.
The Canberra-class amphibious deployment systems are now ready to carry out operations such as amphibious warfare, humanitarian assistance, and disaster relief.

The project team worked with Red Hat Open Innovation Labs to identify problems and to build a digital ‘puckboard’ application to address the scheduling challenge.
ManTech to support NAVAIR’s unmanned aircraft research efforts
ManTech received a task order to support Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR)’s programme to research and innovate an advanced unmanned aircraft.
With a potential value of $82m, the five-year task order will involve providing analysis, research and development support for the US Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division.
ManTech secured the order under the US Department of Defense Information Analysis Center (DoD IAC) Multiple Award Contract (MAC) Pool I.
General Dynamics IT division wins US Navy’s Sailor 2025 contract
General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) won an order to develop technology for the modernisation of the US Navy’s Sailor 2025 programme training systems.
GDIT is required to implement training curriculum to support the US Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division’s (NAWCTSD) Ready Relevant Learning (RRL) programme.
The order has a ceiling value of $57m, including all options.
