FLIR Systems has won a contract with the US Marine Corps (USMC) for the delivery of its R80D SkyRaider Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).
Under the $10m contract, the company will supply an undisclosed number of its advanced military UAS.
FLIR R80D SkyRaider has been developed for the US defence and other federal government clients.
Fitted with long-range and high-resolution EO/IR imaging sensors, the unmanned system is capable of offering situational awareness both during the day and at night.
SkyRaider holds the capacity to carry up to 4.4lb external loads for specialised missions, such as forward resupply, asset extraction and more.
The advanced small UAS (sUAS) also features cybersecurity measures, certain advanced embedded AI processing, and multi-mission capabilities.

FLIR Unmanned Systems & Integrated Solutions Product Management vice-president David Proulx said: “The R80D SkyRaider is a superior asset for highly mobile expeditionary and multi-mission combat operations, such as those that put marines at the tip of the spear.
“We’ve worked hard to develop a smart, versatile sUAS aircraft with next-generation capabilities and are honoured to support SkyRaider’s deployment with the US Marine Corps.”
The R80D SkyRaider can also operate in GPS or communications denied environments.
Delivery of the unmanned system is expected to conclude in the third quarter of this year.
