BALIÑO, an Emenasa Group company, has been selected to deliver new lines of tail shafts and propellers for the newest Belgian and Dutch replacement of the mine countermeasures vessels programme (rMCM).
The BALIÑO proposals and designs were chosen by Naval Group and French shipbuilder Kership.
Kership is a joint venture (JV) between Naval Group and Piriou. It is responsible for the construction of 12 new vessels for the Belgian and the Royal Netherlands Navy.
The MCM vessels programme is being led by Belgium Naval & Robotics, a Naval Group and ECA Group consortium. It will lead the production phase and Kership will execute it.
Production of BALIÑO designed shaft lines and the main components will take place at its factory in Vigo, Spain.
Furthermore, work on the propellers will be carried out at its foundry FUNDIVISA in Vilagarcia de Arousa (Spain).

According to Belgium Naval & Robotics, the new ships will be deployed to combat mines, piracy, terrorism, maritime traffic threats and more.
Thales recently secured a contract to deliver its new NS50 radar from the Belgium Navy and the Royal Netherlands Navy’s next generation MCM vessels.
