Huntington Ingalls Industries’ (HII) Technical Solutions division has secured a $273m contract to support fleet maintenance programmes of the US Navy.
Under the five-year contract, the company will support the US Navy’s carrier engineering maintenance assist team and surface engineering maintenance assist team with the upkeep of aircraft carriers and west coast surface ships.
HII Technical Solutions Defense and Federal Solutions business group president Garry Schwartz said: “Continuous modernisation and sustainment of our nation’s fleet is essential to our national security.
“HII is honoured to extend our 40-year partnership with the US Navy in support of these critical defence assets, and to continue leveraging our expertise to maximise efficiency and cost-savings in the future.”
Works under the contract will also include overhaul planning and the repair of a range of equipment and systems.
The related works will be carried out within the US and internationally during operational deployments.

The company recently reported its results for the second quarter of this year. In the three-month period that ended on 30 June, HII’s revenue was $2.2bn, jumping 10.1% on a year-on-year (YOY) basis.
Net earnings also soared to $129m from $53m a year ago.
Last month, HII signed an agreement to acquire defence services company Alion Science and Technology for a cash consideration of $1.65bn.
