The US Navy and Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) have awarded a contract to diagnostic imaging and medical informatics solutions provider Fujifilm Medical Systems.
Fujifilm Medical Systems will provide digital radiography (DR) systems under the ten-year sole source contract.
The DR standardisation contract will see the installation of the company’s advanced clinical DR x-ray room systems on US naval fleet vessels.
These systems feature advanced detector technology and a compact floor mounted room with modern features.
Delivery and installation of the initial digital radiography system on a new US Navy ship is expected to take place later this year.
Fujifilm Medical Systems USA Government Business Sales director Lou Cavallaro said: “Fujifilm is honoured to be awarded this significant contract from the US Navy as it speaks to the confidence and level of trust government officials place in our technology and our Fujifilm staff.

By GlobalData“This achievement reflects Fujifilm’s ongoing commitment to developing the highest quality, innovative digital radiography technology for every application.”
Fujifilm received the latest contract following a two-year evaluation and comparison period with various other competitive DR technologies.
Before selecting Fujifilm’s solution, the US Navy and DLA performed a comprehensive evaluation of each manufacturer’s system technology, adaptability, service support infrastructure, as well as cybersecurity compliance.
The company had earlier won several other contracts for its medical imaging solutions and enterprise imaging from various branches of the US federal government.
In 2017, the company secured a ten-year Department of Defense (DoD) ‘Digital Imaging Network-PACS (DIN-PACS) IV’ contract. It also received a ten-year ‘Joint DLA/VA Radiology and Imaging Systems’ contract.
