Vertex Company has been awarded an $850m contract to support test aircraft for the US Navy’s Naval Test Wing Atlantic (NTWL).
The performance period of the new contract is one year and includes six additional one-year options.
As per the contract, Vertex will provide assistance to a variety of fixed-wing, rotary and uncrewed aircraft operated by five squadrons of the NTWL naval aviation wing.
The five test and evaluation squadrons under NTWL include HX-21, UX-24, VX-23, VX-20 and US Naval Test Pilot School (USNTPS).
NTWL is a part of the US Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) and serves as fleet advocate for supporting the Navy’s evaluation and test aircraft.
The Vertex Company president and CEO Ed Boyington said: “Vertex looks forward to working closely with Naval Test Wing Atlantic to maintain the aircraft used to test and evaluate emerging capabilities for the naval aviation community.”

By GlobalDataThe company will provide organisational level (O-level) maintenance to rapidly repair and sustain the aircraft to meet the test requirements.
In addition, the contract includes a limited amount of specialised depot-level and intermediate-level maintenance for the aircraft.
Most of the related work under this contract is expected to take place in Patuxent River, Maryland.

In July 2020, the US NAWCAD selected Vertex as a part of its multiple award contract (MAC) to deliver a range of services to improve fleet readiness.
