May 2022 has seen an increase of 1.79% in the overall hiring activity when compared with April 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 7.4% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2022, registering a decrease of 1.29% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 48.42% in May 2022, a 10.42% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Research Scientists came in next, claiming a share of 18.02% in May 2022, marking a 26.61% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 14.19% in May 2022, a 10% drop from April 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 12.5% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s aerospace, defence & security industry during May 2022 over previous month.
Airbus posted 83 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a decline of 3.49% over the previous month, followed by Rheinmetall with 67 jobs and a 44.63% drop. Thales with 50 IT jobs and The Boeing with 44 jobs, recorded a 42.86% rise and a 25.42% drop, respectively, while Cubic recorded an 89.47% increase with 36 job postings during May 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s aerospace, defence & security industry
The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s aerospace, defence & security industry IT hiring activity with a 36.49% share in May 2022, a 7.28% increase over April 2022. Germany featured next with a 30.86% share, down 19.41% over the previous month. France recorded an 8.78% share, a drop of 42.65% compared with April 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.5%, down by 3.69% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 20.95% share, registered a decline of 24.39% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 8.33% share, down 2.63% over April 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.23%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
