The US Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support’s (NAVSUP WSS) two supply experts are supporting the refurbishment of an Oliver Hazard Perry-class ship.
The two experts are assisting Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and other partner agencies in repairing the vessel for sale to Bahrain.

NAVSUP WSS FMS branch supervisor Lee Joines said: “We were asked to assist because we are the logistics experts.
“We have the knowledge, training and expertise to procure and acquire the necessary parts and materials.”
In 2019, Bahrain requested a foreign military sale (FMS) to refurbish the Oliver Hazard Perry-class ship, USS Robert G Bradley (FFG 49).
Under this sale package, the US Navy will refurbish and provide spares, support, training, publications as well as logistics and programme support to Bahrain.
After the US approved the FMS, the ship was sent to a shipyard in Charleston to undergo repair works.
According to Joines, a multinational multi-agency team of professionals was appointed to work on the ship and to ensure that its electrical and mechanical systems are in working properly.
NAVSUP WSS two-year outfitting specialist Kristen Marshall said: “We work closely with contractors and Bahraini sailors. They provide us with the requests and lists of items needed, and we get it for them.”
Joines claimed that the team provides logistical support using the navy’s supply system to fulfil the needs.
They also utilise government purchase cards for non-standard items and other urgent requests, which are unavailable with the supply system.
