The US Naval Surface Warfare Centre (NSWC) Carderock Division has awarded a new contract to ManTech International to support the Navy’s Towed Acoustic Sensor programme.
The estimated value of this award is approximately $28m.
As part of this contract, the company will provide a wide range of intelligent systems engineering (ISE) solutions for the NSWC’s towed acoustic sensors.
The ISE solutions and services offered by ManTech will help in assessing and calibrating vessel towed sensors that are deployed fleet wide to monitor the activities of surface combatant ships, submarines as well as uncrewed underwater vehicles.
ManTech said that its end-to-end ISE approach will further support and improve the In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) role of the customer, fulfilling the overall engineering, test, maintenance and logistics requirements.
The service’s Towed Acoustic Sensor programme aims to advance the functionalities and capabilities of sensors that are used for detecting, measuring and identifying identify acoustic emissions emitted from surface and sub-surface vessels.

In 2010, the company secured a similar contract to support the US Navy’s acoustic test support programmes by delivering the required technical and engineering services.
The services provided by ManTech covered different programmes, such as the surface ship radiated noise measurement and fleet sonar self-noise.
Recently, ManTech won a contract, worth $57m, from NSWC Crane for developing a solution in support of advanced expeditionary weapon systems.
