Raytheon has been awarded a new indefinite-delivery / indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract to operate and maintain two forward-deployed shipboard radars.
The contract has been named Mobile Sensors, and was awarded by the US Air Force (USAF).
The $128m deal will see Raytheon operate and maintain the Cobra King radar aboard the US Navy’s missile range instrumentation ship Howard O. Lorenzen (TAGM-25), as well as the Gray Star radar aboard the US naval ship (USNS) stalwart-class ocean surveillance vessel Invincible (TAGM-24).
Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services Mission Support and Modernisation vice-president Todd Probert said: “Raytheon is sustaining and modernising the advanced sensor systems the air force depends on to succeed on today's digital battlefield.
“We will keep Cobra King and Gray Star available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, no matter where they are in the world.”
The two shipboard radars are forward deployed to support the US Pacific Command and the US Central Command.
