French company Thales is set to unveil its new fully configurable unmanned mine countermeasures system, Pathmaster, to enable naval forces to reduce the risk exposure of their crews.
The new system can be deployed by any naval or mine countermeasures vessel, or from any other type of naval platform.
Pathmaster features Thales's synthetic aperture sonar SAMDIS, with multi-aspect imaging technology to improve classification performance.
Thales said that the system can be customised to the needs of individual navies and can also adapt to the operational requirements of newly emerging naval forces.
The Pathmaster system features an automatic deployment and recovery system, automatic target recognition functions, and user-friendly tactical software for minefield management.
It is simple to use and requires minimal specific training, and brings mine countermeasures capabilities within reach of every naval force.

Thales's multi-aspect technology was evaluated by the French defence procurement agency (DGA) this year.
The company is already using the technology for the French-UK maritime mine countermeasures programme (MMCM).
The MMCM contract was awarded by OCCAr in March last year to Thales, in collaboration with BAE Systems and its partners ECA, ASV, Wood & Douglas, and SaaB to meet specific requirements set out by France and the UK.
SAMDIS technology has also been selected for two Asian export programmes.
