The global aerospace, defence & security industry noticed a 0.3% rise in IT hiring activity in July 2021 over the previous month, led by Raytheon Technologies’s 19.68% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The aerospace, defence & security industry’s overall hiring activity increased by 2.23% when compared with June 2021.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 20.44% share of the global aerospace, defence & security industry’s hiring activity in July 2021, down 0.71% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of July 2021 were 2.96% lower compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 5.26% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers drive aerospace, defence & security IT hiring activity
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 50.16% emerged as the top IT occupation in the aerospace, defence & security hiring activity in July 2021, an 8.97% increase over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 18.36% in July 2021, up 4.64% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Computer and Information Research Scientists with a 15.75% share in July 2021, decline of 26.08% over the previous month, and Computer and Information Analysts with a 7.12% share in July 2021 and drop of 11.28% over June 2021.
Top five aerospace, defence & security companies by recruitment activity in July 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average an increase of 11.29% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global aerospace, defence & security industry during July 2021 over June 2021.
Raytheon Technologies posted 1,282 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a drop of 7.7% over the previous month, followed by Thales with 928 jobs and a 239.93% rise. Leidos Holdings with 858 IT jobs and The Boeing with 647 jobs, recorded a 7.79% increase and a 21.39% drop, respectively, while General Dynamics recorded a 0.76% drop with 524 job postings during July 2021.
Regional composition of IT hiring in aerospace, defence & security industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global aerospace, defence & security IT hiring activity in July 2021 with a 71.4% share, which marked a 13.35% drop over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 16.99%, registering a 62.56% month-on-month increase. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 10.24% share and a 28.02% rise over June 2021.
In the fourth place was Middle East & Africa with a share of 0.95% and a month-on-month growth of 51.22%. South & Central America stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.41%, registering a 170% increase over the previous month.
