Notably, Computer and Mathematical Occupations jobs accounted for a 22% share of the global aerospace, defence and security industry’s internet of things-related total new job postings in Q2 2024, up 88% over the prior quarter.
Computer and Mathematical Occupations drive internet of things-related hiring activity
Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 22%, emerged as the top internet of things-related job roles within the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 88% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 10% in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 96% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent internet of things roles include Architecture and Engineering Occupations with a 9% share in Q2 2024, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 8% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in aerospace, defence and security industry accounted for 74% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were V2X, Boeing, Airbus, RTX, and Thales. Together they accounted for a combined share of 74% of all internet of things-related new jobs in the aerospace, defence and security industry.
V2X posted 949 internet of things-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Boeing 151 jobs, Airbus 136 jobs, RTX 72 jobs, and Thales 68 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 59.60% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024
The largest share of internet of things-related new job postings in the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 59.60% followed by India (9.84%) and France (9.14%). The share represented by the US was ten percentage points higher than the 49.20% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
