Thousands of pages of technical documentation are required by the British Army in order to help train personnel in the operation of the Boxer vehicle.
The upgrades will extend the operational life of the submarines until the next-generation 212CD submarines are ready to enter service in the 2030s.
Valued at $114m (Lv200.6m), the order will bolster the ground strike capabilities of a US ally and member of Nato and the European Union.
The United States and Norway have both assisted in facilitating the acquisition.
Due to budget cuts, the acquisition has been reduced from an initial five aircraft.
The sale comprises the naval propulsion units in Pascagoula, Mississippi and Walpole, Massachusetts, in the US, and the naval handling systems unit in Ontario, Canada.
