Alion Science and Technology has received a $980m contract for the provision of training systems support services from the US Department of Navy, Naval Air Systems Command.

The training systems contract (TSC) IV will see Alion offer non-commercial training systems, services and content in support of the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) in Orlando, Florida.

"The NAWCTSD TSC IV is intended to facilitate the design, development, production, test and evaluation (T&E), and modification of the navy’s training systems."

The indefinite delivery / indefinite quantity (ID / IQ) contract is slated to run for up to nine years.

Alion Science and Technology president and CEO Steve Schorer said: “Alion has been providing world-class training systems to NAWCTSD since 2001, and the unique experience enabling us to meet the technical and collaborative challenges of integrating disparate training systems into the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE).”

The NAWCTSD TSC IV is intended to facilitate the design, development, production, test and evaluation (T&E), and modification of the navy’s training systems.

It also encompasses the supply of training content and related services.

NAWCTSD seeks contractors that are able to provide rapid and comprehensive responses in accordance with the US Navy’s mission and system requirements.

Alion has been engaged in the delivery of training systems and support services to the navy’s network of weapon development laboratories and Warfare Centers of Excellence (WCOE) for the past 16 years.

The company noted that its past provision of these services has enabled it to have a greater understanding of the fleet’s requirements, while allowing it to anticipate and mitigate risks more adeptly.

Alion will leverage its expertise in programme management, software engineering, integration and interoperability engineering solutions in order to deliver the services specified under the TSC IV contract.

These competencies are said to include cross-platform training solutions, network engineering and installation, and maintenance operations.
