Babcock has announced plans to create nearly 1,500 new apprentice and graduate roles over 2024 and 2025, as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to foster the development of the UK’s future workforce in defence and engineering fields.
This initiative comes after the announcement of UK Government’s Defence Industrial Strategy, which aims to drive economic growth, enhance national security, and increase defence sector employment across the UK.
Following a recent intake of more than 400 apprentices in September, Babcock will add another 500 apprentices through its newly launched recruitment programme.
The company will also offer 253 graduate roles in 2025, building on the 285 graduates who joined in September.
Babcock has introduced an engineering pre-apprenticeship scheme near its Devonport site in Plymouth and operations at HMNB Clyde.
This scheme provides an alternative entry route into Babcock, guaranteeing an interview for an apprenticeship for those who complete the year-long course.
