Naval Ship Management (NSM) has been awarded a $1.1bn contract by the Australian Government to provide sustainment support for Royal Australian Navy’s landing helicopter docks (LHD) and LHD landing crafts (LLCs).
Work will be performed from July 2019 for an initial contract period of five years, with an option for two five-year extensions. NSM is a joint venture between Babcock and UGL Engineering.

Awarded as a part of shipbuilding and conversion funds of Navy 2019, the contractual work will be performed until 2024.
The contract has an optional extension period of three years.
BAE Systems has secured two contracts worth $150m from the US Navy to provide support services for communications systems of the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD).
BAE will perform lifecycle sustainment on communications platforms for five years under the $83m first contract known as LCS CONUS.
The $68m second contract involves delivery, integration and production services of C5ISR systems for a five-year term.
Work will be performed at NAWCAD’s Special Communications Mission Solutions Division’s production facility located in Maryland and Florida, US.
Austal USA has secured a $40.36m contract from the US Navy for the procurement of materials and production engineering of 14th Spearhead-class expeditionary fast transport (EPF) vessel.
Austal will buy various equipment including water jets, reduction gears and diesel engines among others, as part of the contract.
Contractual work will be performed in various locations within and outside of the US, until July 2022.
The US Navy has awarded 1,870 multiple-award contracts (MACs) to companies across various national locations for providing support services for its SeaPort Next Generation (SeaPort-NxG) programme.
The MACs include engineering support services and programme management services.
Work will be performed for a period of five years, with an optional five-year extension.
