The ERAPSCO joint venture (JV) has received subcontracts with a combined value of $64.6m for the production of sonobuoys for the US Navy.
The JV was formed between Ultra Electronics and Sparton’s Engineered Components and Products (ECP) division.
Sonobuoys are tactical sonar systems that are deployed to transmit submarine activity in anti-submarine warfare scenarios.
The current subcontracts represent a Government Fiscal Year 2018 ERAPSCO indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity contract release for the supply of sonobuoys under the JV’s five-year deal.
Ultra Electronics chief executive officer Simon Pryce said: “I am pleased that we have secured this significant contract to provide continuing critical sensor capabilities to the US Navy.
“This contract underscores the increased focus on anti-submarine warfare and our ability through ERAPSCO to provide a range of key technologies and capabilities to support the US Navy’s continued commitment to this important mission.’
