India has completed the delivery of the second BrahMos missile system battery to the Philippines.
This delivery comes after a $374.96m contract signed in January 2022, marking India’s first substantial export of a strategic missile system.

The initial batch reached the Philippines in 2024. The contract includes a total of three missile system batteries.
Alongside the missile systems, which have a 290km range and 2.8 Mach speed, the Philippines will also receive operator training and an integrated logistics support package.
Jointly developed by India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Russia’s NPOM, the BrahMos missile is a long-range system capable of being launched from various platforms, including land, sea, and air.
It has been designed to perform anti-ship and land-attack roles and is already operational within the Indian Navy and Army.

By GlobalDataA source stated that: “The second battery of the missile has been sent in a ship this time.
“The first battery was sent in April 2024 in an IAF aircraft, with support coming from civil aircraft agencies. The long-haul flight carrying the heavy load was a non-stop six-hour journey before the equipment reached the western parts of the Philippines.”
In 2023, the Indian Navy expressed its intention to procure more than 200 BrahMos missiles to boost indigenisation in its armed forces.
In 2022, the Indian Navy tested an extended-range version of the BrahMos missile from the stealth destroyer INS Chennai in the Indian Ocean, showcasing advanced trajectory and manoeuvring capabilities before hitting its target.
According to a report by GlobalData, India’s defence expenditure is projected to grow from €77.24bn in 2025 to €89.35bn in 2029, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.7%.
