The US Information Warfare Training Command (IWTC) Virginia Beach has completed the first annual review of the Joint Certification Evaluation (JCE) for its Foreign Military Intelligence Collection Activities (FORMICA) course.
The course involves the debriefing of all US Department of Defense (DoD) personnel possessing access to information of potential value to foreign intelligence organisations.
All debriefing activities are carried out by trained and certified DoD human intelligence (HUMINT) collectors.
IWTC Virginia Beach commanding officer commander Andrew Boyden said: “FORMICA has been a force multiplier for naval intelligence and our forces forward.
“With the joint accreditation, we are able to leverage the capabilities of our analysts in the joint arena, filling intelligence gaps.”
The FORMICA curriculum has been refined to align with joint requirements and further facilitate an overall holistic approach to intelligence collections.

By GlobalDataThe course received initial joint certification in February last year, which enabled graduates to release reports to the intelligence community across the global joint environment.
It has been specially designed to provide the necessary knowledge and skills to the US Navy intelligence officers and enlisted intelligence specialists in the paygrades of E4-O4 to allow them to carry out the FORMICA process at the journeyman level under minimum supervision and in accordance with appropriate technical manuals.
IWTC Virginia Beach forms part of the Centre for Information Warfare Training, which offers a programme of training for US Navy and joint service personnel that is intended to prepare them to carry out IW across the complete spectrum of military operations.
