French companies Naval Group and ECA Group have entered a technological and commercial partnership to provide unmanned mine-hunting solutions for Belgian and Dutch naval forces.
The first practical application was completed as part of the consultation response launched by Belgium for a Dutch cooperation established for the delivery of 12 new mine hunters.
Under the partnership, Naval Group and ECA Group will focus on developing and promoting an offer of military mine countermeasure (MCM) vessels integrating drones, sonars, mine sweep and remotely operated systems.
The new mine hunting solution will be able to address emerging threats and progress technology in the areas of staff, equipment, interoperability, organisation, concepts, doctrine, as well as infrastructure and logistics.
In future, the increased use of unmanned systems operating on the surface, underwater and in the air will lead to major transformations that are expected to affect naval forces.
As partners, the two companies are providing the Belgian Navy and the Royal Netherlands Navy with a new solution for robotic mine warfare, which can be fully integrated on an MCM military vessel.
