Patria has secured a contract from the Norwegian Defence Material Agency (NDMA) to deliver Patria Sonac ACS Acoustic Minesweeping Systems to the Royal Norwegian Navy.
The company stated that this contract will help Patria in its strategic efforts to become a leading player in providing underwater and maritime intelligence and surveillance solutions, especially in the Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) and Maritime Mine Counter Measures (MMCM) segments.
Patria Sonac ACS makes use of the company’s patented sound source technology, providing acoustic performance over a wide frequency spectrum and completely supporting the ‘Mine Setting’, ‘Target Simulation’, and ‘Mine Jamming’ modes of operation.
This design enables precise reproduction of pre-recorded or synthesised submerged or surface target signatures, making it efficient against intelligent influence sea mines.
Given its compact size, Patria Sonac ACS is suitable for future lightweight autonomous multi-influence minesweeping systems.
Patria’s Systems Business Unit president Jonas Geust said: “We are very proud to provide the Royal Norwegian Navy with world-class capability as the critical part of their future naval minesweeping toolbox. The development of Patria Sonac ACS is based on Patria’s long-term experience and know-how in the design and development of acoustic sweeping gear and multi-influence sea mines.”
