BAE Systems is set to display the immersive three-dimensional (3D) technology used to provide digital defence capability to the Australian Defence Force (ADF) at the SimTecT 2017 conference.

The company's digital technology combines the ‘DNA’ from computer-aided drafting (CAD) and gaming software to help deliver significant benefits for realising a design in partnership with several other partners.

The immersive technology has enabled the successful de-risking of construction of the British Royal Navy’s Type 26 Global Combat Ship, which was started in July.

The approach has been used to recognise and reduce potential safety and construction hazards during the digital phase, as well as avoid costly delays and ensure a safe workplace for personnel.

SimTecT is the annual Simulation Technology and Training Conference held by Simulation Australasia.

The event is scheduled to be held this week in Sydney, Australia.
