Bergen Group Services has secured a one-year extension of a framework contract to deliver maintenance and repair for selected vessel categories of the Norwegian Armed Forces.
The new agreement extension will be valid until 1 August next year, and the total value of the deal will depend on the amount of work that the Norwegian Defence will require to be carried out under the current contract.
The original framework agreement has created a number of smaller jobs since August 2014, along with two major assignments with five-year classing inspection and survey projects to be conducted on two minesweepers.
Bergen's two assignments have a total order value of Nkr25m ($2.99m) to Nkr30m ($3.58m), with a total project period of eight months.
Bergen Group Services chief executive officer Frode Johansson said: “Bergen Group Services is pleased that the Defence has chosen to exercise the option to extend this framework agreement until 1 August 2018.
“The lack of an extension on the frigate-contract as from 1 July this year does not change the fact that we still consider the Norwegian Armed Forces to be a preferred and important customer in the coming years.

The company was previously awarded a one-year extension of seven framework contracts in March, which continued the provision of several services related to the maintenance and upkeep of Norwegian Armed Forces vessels.
The extension is an option of the original agreement, which was initially signed in March 2014.
