Northrop Grumman has successfully conducted a critical design review (CDR) for the US Navy’s surface electronic warfare improvement programme (SEWIP) Block 3 AN/SLQ-32(V)7 electronic warfare system.
The CDR focused on the detailed design of the electronic attack subsystem that will constitute the deployable AN/SLQ-32(V)7 system.
A review of the detailed design for the auxiliary support, power, and cooling components, as well as shipboard compatibility, will be conducted later this year.
The company will now develop two prototypes of the system, which will be delivered to the navy at the end of the engineering manufacturing development (EMD) phase, for sue with the final design.
Last year, Northrop Grumman was awarded a $267m contract by the US Navy to develop and manufacture the next-generation SEWIP Block 3 system.
The SEWIP Block 3 solution features active and passive arrays, and electronic warfare and communications functions with continuous 360° coverage.
