US-based technology integrator Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) has been awarded a $118.5m contract to provide the US Fleet Forces Command with fleet deployment training programme support.
The US Fleet Forces Command is an integral part of the US Navy, as it provides naval resources that are allocated to combatant commanders like the US Northern Command, which falls under the authority of the Secretary of Defence.
As part of the contract, SAIC has been assigned to assist Fleet Forces Command with fleet training policy / directive development and implementation.
US Navy and Marine Corps Customer Group senior vice-president Tom Watson said: "SAIC has a proud history of providing the navy with critical training support to help prepare warfighters for their missions.
"Helping sailors to achieve their training objectives and to prepare them for overseas deployment is a top priority for us."
The company will also develop curriculum and instruction for the US Fleet Forces Command, and develop, execute, assess, and reconstruct synthetic training and live exercises.

By GlobalDataSAIC said that the single-award, cost-plus-fixed-fee task order has been given a one-year base period of performance, along with four one-year options.
Work under the contract will be carried out in San Diego, California and Norfolk, Virginia, US.
