Maritime forces from a host of nations are set to participate in the UK-led Exercise Joint Warrior 2015, which will start on 11 April in Scotland.
The exercise, which is claimed to be the largest of its kind for Nato, takes place every year in April and October and will include the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force (RAF).
Around 13,000 personnel from 13 countries will participate in this bi-annual exercise, which will also feature 55 submarines and warships, including USS Anzio and USS Porter from the US.
The exercise will also see participation of approximately 70 aircraft, which will operate from RAF Lossiemouth, RAF Brize Norton, RAF Marham and RAF Leeming.
The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) said that the Nato exercise is aimed towards improving joint operations between armed forces of the participating countries.
BBC News reported that the exercise is also likely to involve periodic jamming of GPS signals; however, it would be restricted to an area in north-west Scotland.

By GlobalDataThe UK Royal Navy was quoted by the news agency as saying: "The relevant authorities, including aviation and maritime communities, have been consulted and procedures are in place for any unforeseen activity that might arise."
A statement on the UK MoD website read: "There will be significant naval and aerial activity off the West and East coast of Scotland, which will also include amphibious landings on the West coast.
"Elsewhere there will be aerial and ground activity including airborne landings around Salisbury Plain in England and several other Defense Estate areas in Scotland, Northern England, South Wales and Central England."
In January this year, the MoD reportedly requested maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) support from the US military, as it attempted to track a suspected Russian submarine off the coast of Scotland.
