Global aviation maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) services provider Vector Aerospace has begun implementing the maintenance programme for the Pakistan Navy's Sea King helicopter fleet.

The Pakistan Navy recently obtained the fleet after signing a contract with the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) for the acquisition of seven former Sea King helicopters, which were formally handed over to the navy by the UK MoD's Disposal Services Authority (DSA) on 24 May.

The deal will see Vector Aerospace upgrade three of Leonardo Helicopters’ Sea King aircraft, allowing the helicopters to resume service with the Pakistan Navy.

Work on the project is currently being carried out at the company’s Fleetlands facility in Gosport, Hampshire, UK.

Vector Aerospace’s UK-based aviation services team was previously responsible for depth maintenance of the MoD’s Sea King helicopter fleet.

The upgraded Sea King aircraft is slated to be shipped to Pakistan later this year.
