Northrop Grumman has delivered the 51st US Navy E-2D Advanced Hawkeye production aircraft, AA-52.
The delivery marks a major milestone for the company as it was the last aircraft to be handed over under the Multi-Year Procurement (MYP) 1 contract.
The aircraft features the Delta System/Software Configuration (DSSC) Build 3. This system, along with the incorporation of aerial refuelling and a dwell-based tracker, is expected to increase the operational effectiveness and technology for the E-2D.
With the completion of MYP 1, the deliveries under MYP 2 are slated to commence later this year.
The future deliveries will include capability improvements to enable the US Navy and joint force to combat new threats.
The E-2D Advanced Hawkeye will help the Navy to improve its battle management command and control.
