Damen Shipyards Group has completed the delivery of the second offshore patrol vessel (OPV) 2600, PNS Yamama, to the Pakistan Navy.
This follows the earlier handover of PNS Hunain in the summer of 2024.
The delivery of PNS Yamama, which took place at Constanta in Romania in December 2024, is part of a continuing partnership that began with the construction of two Yarmook Class vessels, based on the Damen OPV 1900 design.
The Yarmook-class vessels were commissioned in February and November 2020.
The construction of the second batch of OPVs commenced in 2022, with a keel-laying and steel-cutting ceremony for the first and second vessels.
The OPVs have a displacement of 2,600 tonnes (t) and a length of 98 metres (m), equipped with a weapons suite, including a main gun of up to 76mm, secondary armaments, and capacity for various mission modules.

By GlobalDataDesigned for a broad spectrum of maritime tasks, these vessels can perform both security roles and military operations in contested maritime environments.
They are built for endurance, flexibility, and adaptability to various scenarios.
Pakistan Navy vice admiral Muhammad Faisal Abbasi said: “The Offshore Patrol Vessels project is an ultimate success not only for Pakistan but for Damen, the Galati Shipyard and all co-makers involved in the conception, design, construction and commissioning of the four OPVs.
“I am confident that the collaboration between the Pakistan Navy and Damen will further extend to new avenues for shared gains.”
The delivery coincides with increased cooperation between Damen and the Pakistan Navy, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar in Karachi in November.
The MoU highlights Damen’s commitment to the Pakistan Maritime Science and Technology Park (PMSTP), a collaborative initiative aimed at advancing maritime technology.
As a PMSTP partner, Damen will assist in establishing a local service centre for maintenance and services for Damen vessels, including the Pakistan Navy’s OPVs.
Additionally, it will work with local industry on shipbuilding projects and leverage its expertise to co-design and develop new vessels for the Pakistan Navy.
Damen Regional Sales director Stephan Stout said: “The PMSTP initiative aligns well with Damen’s way of working. Wherever we are operating in the world, we look to cooperate with local governments, industry, and education and research institutes.”
