Rohde & Schwarz has secured a five-year contract from the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) to deliver high frequency (HF) radios.
The contract will see the company replace the existing HF receivers at multiple sites throughout Canada.
The company’s R&S M3SR Series4100 HF receivers will be provided for use by the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN), the Canadian Army, and the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF).
The new receivers are advanced radio systems designed to support future capabilities of HF communications, such as HF wideband.
They are part of Rohde & Schwarz’s SOVERON radio family.
According to the company, the R&S M3SR Series4100 family radio platform is a future-ready, safe and reliable system.
Rohde & Schwarz Naval Communications Systems regional sales manager Alipio Gonzalez said: “We are very proud to have our future ready HF equipment chosen by the Canadian DND.
“Our R&S M3SR Series4100 family meets future requirements for wideband HF and provides armed forces with robust, dependable data communications, increased bandwidth, high-quality connectivity and improved resilience.”
Rohde & Schwarz claims that all its equipment align with the respective military standards for naval applications and have been successfully deployed and proven by over 40 navies.
In November last year, Rohde & Schwarz received a contract from shipbuilder Cantiere Navale Vittoria for the delivery of communication systems for Italian offshore patrol vessels.
In August 2019, Rohde & Schwarz supplied its software defined airborne radios (SDR) for the NH90 Sea LION aircraft to the German Navy.
