Science Applications International Corp (SAIC) has been awarded a prime position on a $245m US Marine Corps multiple-award indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract.

The company secured the prime contractor role on the Marine Air-Ground Task Force Training Systems Support contract.

Under the IDIQ contract, SAIC will compete for task orders to support pre-deployment training programmes to Marine Corps operating forces to enhance combat capabilities.

The contract will include exercise and mission rehearsal support, alongside planning and structuring training. In addition, the company will provide executive and technical training support.

SAIC Defense Systems customer group executive vice-president and general manager Jim Scanlon said: “SAIC has been providing services and innovative solution in support of the Marine Corps’ global missions for decades.

The contract will run for a period of ten years and be performed around the world. The Marine Corps awarded the contract to a total of seven companies, including SAIC.

In December last year, SAIC was selected as a prime contractor on the US Navy’s SeaPort Next Generation contract to provide engineering, technical, programme support and other services.

The company also won Seaport-e task order in March this year to provide mission support services to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City Division.
