Singapore-based ST Engineering’s Marine business has secured a subcontract to support the construction of the UAE Navy’s Falaj 3 offshore patrol vessel (OPV).
Issued by Abu Dhabi Ship Building PJSC (ADSB), the subcontract will see ST Engineering provide platform equipment and design and technical assistance services.
In May this year, ADSB received the original $952m (AED3.5bn) contract from the UAE Ministry of Defence (MOD) and UAE Navy to locally build four vessels.
ADSB is a provider of repair and maintenance services for naval and commercial vessels in the UAE.
ST Engineering noted that the OPVs contract received from ADSB covers the vessels’ basic, detail design and production design.
The company will also provide technical assistance during the construction of the first vessel.
