The US Navy and the German Navy have completed a bilateral maritime interoperability exercise to strengthen security and stability in the Baltic Sea.
The exercise saw the participation of the US Navy’s Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, USS Forrest Sherman (DDG 98), USS Donald Cook (DDG 75) and the German Navy’s Sachsen-class air-defence frigate FGS Sachsen (F219).
During the exercise, US Navy destroyers DDG 98 and DDG 75 practiced coordination and communication with the German frigate.
The training also included a series of flight operations and navigation drills.
The ships were involved in tactical exercises that allowed them to exchange signals in proximity.
USS Donald Cook commanding officer commander Matthew Curnen said: “Exercises with our Nato partners are a key component in demonstrating the Alliance’s resolve and commitment to overall readiness.
