L3Harris Technologies has won a contract for the Medium Unmanned Surface Vehicle (MUSV) programme from the US Navy.
It is the first unmanned ground vehicles programme supporting the Distributed Maritime Operations strategy of the navy.
Last month, US Navy awarded a $34.99m contract to L3Harris for a single MUSV prototype.
The initial $35m award is part of a $281m programme that comprises prototypes and options for nine total MUSVs.
L3Harris will integrate its ASView autonomous technology into a dedicated 195ft utility vehicle from its Gulf Coast plant in Louisiana.
MUSV will offer the fleet intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, while automatically manoeuvring and conforming with international collision regulations, even in an operational environment.
