The US Navy has received the delivery of a new G550 telemetry range support aircraft from General Dynamics’ wholly owned aircraft manufacturing division Gulfstream Aerospace.
Designed and upgraded at the company facility, the special mission G550 aircraft has been equipped with a wide range of sensors that would help the US Navy carry out its telemetry range support mission.

Gulfstream Aerospace president Mark Burns said: “The G550, with its exceptional reliability and proven performance, is an ideal aircraft for telemetry range support aircraft and will help the US Navy address its diverse and challenging operations.”
With enhanced performance, speed, high altitude and range, the aircraft can be deployed for a wide range of special missions, while the upgraded and advanced aircraft cabin offers an optimised operational environment for crew members.
The Gulfstream G550 aircraft is powered by two Rolls-Royce engines. It has a cruise range of 6,750nm (12,501km) and is capable of operating out of short-field, high-altitude airports.
With the capability to accommodate up to 19 passengers, the 96ft-long aircraft has the range to operate during a non-stop flight for more than 12 hours.
