Martin UAV’s V-BAT system has been chosen by the US Navy for a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) unmanned aircraft system (UAS) prototyping and development effort.
The selection follows the successful Mi2 Technology Demonstration live event at the Yuma Proving Grounds in Arizona, US.

The company was one of the two down selected from 13 submissions to participate in the Tech Demo, which is the second phase of the Mi2 Challenge. L3Harris Technologies was the other candidate selected to compete.
The event focused on several requirements and comprised of technology questionnaires, performance summaries, and in-depth supporting artifacts and more.
Since 2015, Martin UAV has focused on meeting the requirements of the warfighter and worked ‘to develop the V-BAT’ to meet the exact needs.
The V-BAT’s features, such as open architecture, interchangeable payloads, and automatic transition to straight and level flight, helped it to meet the requirements of the merit-based competition.
