Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems, headquartered in Owego, New York, has clinched a contract worth $49.5m.
This contract aims to deliver technical, management, and process support for maintaining software across all variants of the H-60 aircraft. The beneficiaries of this contract extend beyond the US Navy to include the governments of Australia, Denmark, Greece, Norway, Saudi Arabia and South Korea, .
With work scheduled to be executed in Owego, New York, Lockheed Martin's commitment is expected to extend until September 2028.
Lockheed Martin Corp will capture a 45.1% share of the military rotorcraft market in North America, with forecast revenue of $32.2bn over 2023–33, according to a GlobalData, "The Global Military Rotorcraft Market 2023-2033" report.
The Naval Air Systems Command, based in Patuxent River, Maryland, is the contracting activity for this agreement. This development reinforces Lockheed Martin's important role in bolstering the global capabilities of the H-60 aircraft and highlights the collaborative nature of international defence partnerships.
James Marques, aerospace, defence, and security analyst at GlobalData, provided his insight into how the H-60 family of military helicopters is applied in naval environments and which variants are used, "The naval variant of the H-60 is the SH or MH-60 Seahawk (depending on model), as it does on land it's a very versatile all-round medium weight helicopter that can do a range of missions and can land on practically any ship with a pad.
Most common variants are anti-submarine and surface ship warfare (MH-60R), and the MH-60S, which is usually for other small jobs like supply lifting and troop carrying."
GlobalData's "The Global Military Rotorcraft Market 2023-2033" report also claims that Lockheed Martin Corp is anticipated to account for the fourth-highest revenue share of $3.7 billion over the forecast period in Europe. The company will produce the MH-60R for Greece and Norway.
