ORBIT Communication Systems has been contracted by an undisclosed European integrator to deliver its OceanTRx 4MIL satellite communication (Satcom) systems for an unidentified Nato navy.
Scheduled for delivery next year, the systems are set to be installed on military maritime platforms. The value of the contract is $3m.
The OceanTRx 4MIL Quad-Band Satcom system, recently launched by Orbit, is based on the OceanTRx4 system and includes advanced features adapted for military platforms.
It supports various antenna configurations with a 1.15m diameter and operates across Ku, X, Ka Commercial, and Ka Military frequencies.
It includes a feature that allows for the simultaneous operation of multiple frequencies to facilitate global activities.
The OceanTRx 4MIL is designed for quick and easy installation, maintenance, and upgrade, offering defence customers a mix of RF performance and availability.
The system's rugged electrical and mechanical design complies with stringent environmental standards for shocks, vibrations, and electromagnetic interference.
It meets MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-461G enhanced configurations for defence applications, ensuring reliability in challenging conditions.
It further offers a combination of single or dual X/Ka and Ku/Ka systems, as well as Multiband X/Ku/Ka systems, each with respective RF chains.
This design enables seamless connectivity between satellites in medium Earth orbit (MEO), low Earth orbit (LEO) constellations, or geostationary orbit (GEO).
Orbit CEO Daniel Eshchar said: “The OceanTRx 4MIL, which is part of our proven family of naval military systems, will enable the customer to work with four different frequencies for maximum operational flexibility.
“The contract highlights Orbit’s technological leadership in satellite communication systems for naval military platforms and prominent navies and demonstrates our commitment to continue our growth as a leading company in its field.”
In 2021, Orbit Communication Systems delivered an OceanTRx 4MIL SATCOM system to the Israeli Navy.
