Samudra Prahari, the first-ever pollution control warship, commissioned on 9 October, has arrived at Karwar from Mumbai, India.

The warship is the first in Asia and third in the world that has the sophisticated equipment to control oil spillage and pollution, and provide deep-sea protection and security to the west coast, according to the Times of India.

The warship has a boat set on either sides of the ship that will spread the oil-controlling booms in a circular manner to prevent oil from mixing with water.

The ship has a centralised control system and a special type of electric management system. It can also accomodate Chetak and other lightweight helicopters, and five high-speed boats.
