Under the contract, which follows previously awarded contract for four boats, Ramta division will deliver three Super Dvora fast patrol boats to the Israel Navy.
IAI Ramta division general manager, brigadier general (Res.) Nitzan Shaked said that the company’s end-to-end solutions provide full responsibility for operational capabilities, reliability, technology and integration.
The new boats will be used by the Israel Navy to conduct a range of missions including patrol, protection of Israel’s coasts and strategic assets at sea and at its coasts, and prevention of terrorist activities and infiltration.
Capable of accommodating a crew of 12, the 90ft-long boats have a displacement capacity of 70t, beam capacity of 18.6ft, draught of 4.3ft and can cruise at a speed of 45k.
IAI president and CEO Joseph Weiss said, "Signing this contract strengthens and establishes IAI’s position with the world’s leading companies in the design and manufacture of vessels for missions that require strong operational capabilities as well as uncompromising reliability."
Equipped with an advanced propulsion system to allow sharp and quick manoeuvring, the fourth generation of boats will also support missions to prevent smuggling and all illegal activity in Israel’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
Featuring advanced detection, navigation and communication capabilities, as well as precision fire measures, the Super Dvora boat has demonstrated its ability and reliability in various ongoing operational activities of the Israel Navy, as well as with other navies around the world.
The Super Dvora Mk 3 vessel is currently undergoing evaluation for use in several countries for strategic facilities guarding within their EEZ, as well as a countermeasure against hostile marine activity.
