The US Navy has awarded a $56,441,141 contract to robotics company Foster-Miller for the procurement of man-transportable robotic systems (MTRSs).

The MTRS is a small robotic vehicle that is used by explosive ordnance disposal technicians to conduct remote reconnaissance missions to disarm and dispose of explosive devices.

The company is also responsible for the procurement of depot-level repair parts supply and services, spare kits, training, engineering enhancements and configuration management.

The work is taking place in Massachusetts in the US and is expected to be complete by 2010.
