By GlobalDataDuring the ninth iteration of the exercise, the US amphibious ready group (ARG)-marine expeditionary unit (MEU) team participated with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), Royal Canadian Navy (RCN), Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF), and Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) for maritime operations.
The exercise saw the participating countries train together, operating in a confined maritime environment.
They also conducted integrated amphibious and air defence operations, tactical manoeuvring, and replenishments-at-sea.
Through the exercise, the forces of Australia, the US, and other partner nations conducted high-end training in multi-domain warfare scenarios at sea, in the littorals, and on the ground.
Commanding officer colonel Michael Nakonieczny of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit said: “During Talisman Sabre our marines and sailors were able to hone and demonstrate our ability to fight in a distributed maritime environment alongside our partners and allies.
“Talisman Sabre allowed us to focus on littoral training, improve readiness and interoperability, while demonstrating that wherever we go, whatever we do, we do it together.”
TS21 is Australia’s largest military exercise with the US. It is designed to enhance the interoperability between the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and the US Armed Forces.
Recently, the Royal Australian Navy’s Anzac-class frigate HMAS Ballarat fired its 5in gun for Naval Surface Fire Support as part of exercise Talisman Sabre.
Talisman Sabre exercise started on 14 July and continued through 31 July.
It is designed to enhance the interoperability between the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and the US Armed Forces.
More than 17,000 troops are taking part in the multi-domain exercise.
