Serco has received a shipbuilding acquisition programme management (SHAPM) services contract from the US Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Team Submarine (TEAM SUB).
The TEAM SUB includes Programme Executive Office (PEO) Attack Submarines, PEO Strategic Submarines and PEO Undersea Warfare Systems.
The estimated value of the SHAPM services contract is approximately $334m, if all the options are exercised.
This contract has a base period of one year, along with four additional one-year option periods.
As the prime contractor for the SHAPM services contract, Serco will provide business, financial and programme management, logistics, foreign military support and other technical and engineering services.
Serco chairman and CEO Dave Dacquino said: “This contract award greatly increases our support to the US Navy and NAVSEA.

As part of the SHAPM services contract, the company will be hiring more than 100 people.
Most of the work will be carried out in Washington DC, which is expected to support different submarine shipbuilding programme offices such as the Future Attack Submarine Office.
The work will also support the development of the integrated power system for the US Navy’s Columbia-class submarine.
The company has been providing work support to the NAVSEA Team Submarine for around 40 years now.
The TEAM SUB works to develop, acquire, modernise and maintain the US Navy’s submarines and undersea systems.
Serco’s part of work involves supporting the TEAM SUB’s concept of combining various submarine-related activities into a single submarine-centric organisation.
The team aims to eliminate the old stovepipe structures and processes, which created inefficiencies in carrying out acquisition, research, development and maintenance of the submarines.
