Tomahawk Robotics has been awarded a contract for the US Marine Corps’ (USMC) autonomy and robotics enhanced multi-domain infantry squad (ARTEMIS) programme.

Awarded via Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory (MCWL), this contract has an estimated value of $6.5m.

Deliveries and associated activities are slated to take place between 2022 and 2024.

The latest contract builds on MCWL’s previously awarded Radio Agile Integrated Device (RAID) contract.

Under the RAID programme, awarded last year, Tomahawk Robotics delivered a fully integrated common control and communications solution for uncrewed systems on land and in the air.

The company will now integrate six additional uncrewed systems along with various ground radios that can be used by USMC in a Kinesis Ecosystem.

Tomahawk Robotics’ Kinesis is an Android-based common control application that can integrate with air and ground uncrewed systems.

In USMC’s case, the uncrewed systems include ground and airborne platforms operated by its Infantry Units.

Tomahawk Robotics CEO Brad Truesdell said: “This is another major step forward in our work to deliver artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled universal robotic command-and-control for our men and women in uniform.

“Through this programme, we will deliver products providing for the safe, efficient, and intuitive control of robotic systems by the USMC.”

According to Tomahawk Robotics, the ARTEMIS programme will use the US Department of Defense’s previous investments to deliver this integrated common control and communications solution.

This in turn will provide universal robotic control for the legacy Programme of Record (PoR) systems, payloads, sensors and dismounted USMC units.
