The ECPINS is the most advanced Warship Electronic Chart Display and Information System (WECDIS) designed for warships and submarines.
It will allow the Dutch Navy to adapt the next-generation military-grade navigation software across its fleet and shore establishments, while the Belgian Navy will use the technology for all its frigates.
OSI Maritime Systems president and CEO Ken Kirkpatrick said: “ECPINS is at the heart of all OSI solutions, and as the most advanced WECDIS available, the RNLN and Belgian Navy will have the most advanced navigation system available.”
In addition, the fleet-wide licence will further allow the company to roll out both the available as well as the new ECPINS versions for a wide range of Dutch naval vessels, including submarines, surface combatants and shore establishments.
The company claimed that the Belgian Navy and the RNLN is among the early adopters of its ECPINS 7 and WECDIS 3 systems.
The latest signing, according to OSI, has further strengthened its relationship with the Belgian Navy, the RNLN, the Netherlands Defence Materiel Organisation, RNLN Naval Academy and the RNLN Maintenance and Sustainment Agency.
OSI’s ECPINS technology features submarine-proven, 3D visualisation and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) denied capabilities, boosting the safety and precision of fleet’s overall tactical navigation to counter emerging adversaries.
OSI Maritime Systems Business Development vice-president Jim Davison said: “Globally, ECPINS is operational in 25 Allied and Nato navies.
“Our GNSS-denied technology operates on eighteen classes of submarines and offers a formidable tactical punch to the capabilities of surface and sub-surface vessels.”
